Dionne Shell, PT, CLT is a school Physical Therapist with the Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) as well as a Certified Lymphedema Therapist with the Detroit Medical Center. She received her Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Central Michigan University in 1994 and her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Oakland University (OU) in 1998. She is currently a doctoral student in the Oakland University Doctor of Philosophy in Human Movement Science program with a graduate certificate in Human Diversity, Inclusion and Social Justice. Her research is to evaluate ways to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) within the physical therapy program.

Dionne resides is Detroit, Michigan with her husband, Willie and their teenage daughter, Natasha. She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the APTA-MI DEI committee, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the Wayne County Community College Physical Therapist Assistant Advisory Board. She has received numerous awards including the Detroit Medical Center Employee Recognition Award for her contributions in Lymphedema as well as being nominated for the DPSCD support staff of the year award. Dionne is passionate about mentoring others and seeks to help students from underrepresented minorities embark on the journey of becoming therapists and serving others as she loves to do!
