Ms. Sydney Jackson

Sydney Reed Jackson, a native of Columbia, SC, is a fourth-year medical student at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) going into the field of Pediatrics. She is passionate about humanistic patient care, health equity, and underrepresented minorities in medicine which is reflected in her involvement and research endeavors. Her recent research with the Division of Pediatric Cardiology has been published in Cardiology in the Young and earned her the MUSC TACHL award for innovative strategies to improve health equity or access to care.
Prior to medical school, Sydney earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Engineering from Mississippi State University where she graduated summa cum laude. While at Mississippi State, she was heavily involved on her campus and within the surrounding community, serving in leadership within the Student Association, Student Conduct Board, Bagley College of Engineering, and Black Student Association. During this time, she was also selected to participate in summer research internships at both Yale and Harvard Universities.
Sydney is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, Student National Medical Association, Gold Humanism Honor Society, and Aequitas Health Equity Honor Society. She also dedicates time to community service through various free medical clinics, pediatric vaccine clinics, and mentorship programs. She is married to Justin K. Jackson.
